This painting was from a photo of a trip I took to Glacier Park this summer (2018) with a dear friend, Kristen, and her daughter Juliette.

Yellowstone Spring
Oils, 18” x 24”
This is my first painting in a month. My studio is out of commission due to a house construction project. I couldn't stand it any longer, so I dug out the paints and brushes and painted this scent from a trip my wife and I took to Yellowstone Park this spring.

Ninepipes, Flathead Indian Restervation
Oils, 22" x 28" x 1/2"
This is from a photo I took a couple of years ago of a scene in northwest Montana. It's a fairly large painting, because I thought the grandeur of the scene merited a larger painting.

This is the view of Lewistown, Montana from a bench that was dedicated to the memory of a friend.

Oil, 18" x 24" x 1/2"

Horse in Pasture
Oils, 12" x 16" x 1/2"

Rattlesnake Creek
Gesso and Oils, 24" x 18" x 1/2"

Oil, 22" x 28" x 1/2"
This painting is of the Crazy Mountains in south central Montana, a place where I've taken many hikes. They are dramatic in the way they rise from the surrounding prairie and are part of what are called Island ranges in central Montana.

Swiftcurrent Lake
Acrylic, 16" x 20" x 1/2"
A dear friend gave me a wonderful photo of this spot in Glacier Park, which has much significance to her and her family. I loved the photo and the place, and I did my best to reproduce it well. The subject matter is as good as it gets.

Mountain Meadow
Acrylic, 12" x 16" x 1/2"
This was a scene from a wonderful summer hike in the Tobacco Root Mountains in Montana. What struck me most in this scene was the cloud cover, which seemed to shoot up from the horizon like the Northern Lights.

View of Heaven's Peak
Acrylic, 12" x 16" x 1/2"
I have spent hours staring at this beautiful mountain in Glacier Park, Montana. This painting was based on a photo taken by my son from our favorite room in Granite Park Chalet. He loved the way the window framed the mountain. So do I and I hope you do too.

Browning Sunset
Acrylic, 16" x 20" x 1/2"
I've been fortunate to have spent time in Browning, Montana on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. This Fall evening was graced by a particularly beautiful sunset, which I captured with a photo.
This was my first painting, and it's style is different than all the others because, with the exception of a few details on the horizon, I used my finger as the paintbrush.

The Loop Trail in Glacier Park
Acrylic, 12" x 16" x 1/2"
Every June, I hike to Granite Park Chalet in Glacier Park. Part of the hike, shown in this painting, is through an old forest fire that left many burned trees standing. The views are different every year. Sometimes we hike through snow. Some years it is over 90 degrees and all the spring flowers have dried up. This year, the bear grass was blooming and we had a wonderful view of Heaven's Peak, which hadn't yet lost much of its snow.

Forest, Black and White
Gesso, 22" x 28" x 1'2"
This was my first painting done without the benefit of a photo to review.

Forest Scene with Color
Gesso and Acrylic, 22" x 28" x 1/2"

Highline Trail Hike
Acrylic
This is a painting of my father-in-law the last time he hiked the Highline Trail in Glacier Park. He was 93 at the time. He is now 99 and unable to take such hikes, but I wanted to capture two things I love in this painting - the Highline Trail, and my father-in-law.

Acrylic, 12" x 36" x 1-1/2"
This painting was taken from a photo by a friend. The photo provides a beautiful view of Granite Park Chalet in Glacier Park and the mountains surrounding it.

Sperry Chalet
Oils, 18" x 24" x 1-2"
Sperry Chalet, one of two remaining back country chalets in Glacier Park, tragically burned down in a fire in the summer of 2017. I painted this wonderful view of the chalet to help with my grieving process for losing a place I love.
Fortunately, Glacier National Park Conservancy has launched the Sperry Action Fund to help cover the costs of stabilizing the remaining rock walls through the winter and the costs related to the chalet restoration. If you are interested in donating, please contact the Glacier National Park Conservancy at glacier.org.

Acrylic, 12" x 16" x 1/2"
Some friends' beloved cabin in the woods.

Acrylic, 12" x 16" x 1/2"
A good friend's home.

9" x 12" x 1/2"
This is a painting I did of our new home in Missoula, Montana. It's a bit of false advertising since the setting isn't as rural as I made it out to be. My apologies to the neighbors whose homes I omitted from the painting.
