It’s a painting of Durant Canyon, near the place where Silver Bow Creek joins the Clark Fork River. It was a reclamation site, mostly because of toxic material from Butte that was washed down and deposited along the creek during the flood of 1908. Part of the hike, shown in this painting, is through an old forest fire that left many burned trees standing. The views are different every year. Sometimes we hike through snow. Some years it is over 90 degrees and all the spring flowers have dried up.
